“Chosen for the Present”
2 Thessalonians 2:1-3:5
We resume our look at Paul’s second letter to the church in Thessalonica. At first glance, this chapter appears to be looking forward; however, Pastor Tim suggests that this passage has less to do with an unknown future and more to do with how we live our faith today in the present. Paul’s description of the “lawless one” would have felt familiar to his original audience, just as it may also feel familiar to us. With this lawlessness already present in the world, Paul reminds us that we are chosen to be saved and called to proclaim the good news about Jesus to today’s world.
