“Church: A People of Purpose”
Text: 1 Corinthians 12:12-31
This week, we begin a new series about what the church is and how the Apostle Paul encourages the church in Corinth to discover who they are as the church so they can live out and be the people to God has called them to be. In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul’s metaphor about being part of a larger body would have been familiar to the church in Corinth, but not the philosophy that went with it. Whereas previous uses of the imagery highlighted the importance of certain people over others, Paul explains that each and every person is of value and worth and that none are dispensable in the Body of Christ.
