“Dayenu”
Text: Luke 22:14-30
On Maundy Thursday, we join with our friends from the Cape Elizabeth United Methodist Church and explore the meaning of the Jewish word “dayenu,” approximately translated as “it would have been enough.” Throughout the Biblical story as well as our own lives, God continually goes beyond what “would have been enough” to show His abundance. Had God just given us bread and cup, which symbolizes the deep love of Christ, that would have been enough. However, God is continually calling us to deeper grace and faith, so that the whole world may be redeemed and brought back to Him.
