John 15:1-18 – May 2, 2021

Text: John 15:1-8
One of Jesus’ more straight-forward illustrations is the perhaps the vine and the branches. Pastor Tim discusses his main takeaways from this illustration:
1. To be tied to the vine is to be consistent – to be one who always knows that as a follower of Jesus, it is important to be true to the faith both inside the Church; when times are both easy and tough.
2. To be tied to the vine is to bear fruit – to be one who shows their connection to Jesus through their actions and interactions with others.
3. The warning to those who do not bear fruit is directed to those who are connected to the vine. Oftentimes, the (general) Church has diverted the warnings found in scripture to those outside of the faith, which does not welcome them or help them understand there is a Savior who loves them.
Ultimately, the fruit we can bear that reflects the God who has been gracious and loving to us is being gracious and loving to others.
