Text: Mark 5:21-43
When we have a hero that seems distant, it is not uncommon for us to look for some kind of image or sign that might remind us of them; to reach out and stretch hoping to find something that will bring us closer to that individual. In this passage, we are reminded that there is no holy cloth, prayer rug, or mystical item that brings us closer to God and there is no one particular practice that will bring us healing. Instead, this story reminds us that it is our reaching out to Jesus in faith that changes and alters our lives, just as it did for the woman who touched the clothes of Jesus and the family of the girl who was raised from the dead.
