Let Us Adore Him: Joy – December 11, 2022
Text: James 5:7-11
As Advent continues, we are reminded that it is a season of waiting. James speaks of the importance of patience to a Church that was struggling in its own season of expectation. As his illustration of a farmer suggests, being patient does not only mean being willing to wait; it also requires putting in the work necessary prior to receiving the rains. James also references the story of Job, who loses nearly everything but whose story ends with a sense of restoration due to his unwavering faith in God. We recognize that while we celebrate the historical reality of our Savior’s birth at Christmas, we also celebrate the future; the return of Jesus Christ and the removal of all evil and sin in our world. Despite the waiting and expectation, God’s faithfulness and promise for the future provides us the opportunities to share joy and enthusiastic hope with those we meet.

During the season of Advent, we will be reading The Foundry Publishing’s devotional “Let Us Adore Him” by Samantha Chambo, which explores the season’s traditional themes (hope, peace, joy, and love) as they are lived out in the New Testament by Jesus and his followers. We invite you to follow along with us; you may find out more about the devotional by visiting https://www.thefoundrypublishing.com/let-us-adore-him-9780834141292.html.
